July 2010 saw a slight year-on-year decrease by 1,8 % in numbers of passengers handled at Prague Airport: 1 289 152. The number of aircraft movements declined by 6,4 % to the total of 14 998. While passenger volumes (1 055 819) in the scheduled air traffic remained at the same level when compared with July 2009, the numbers in the charter segment fell by more than 9 % to 233 333. Engine fire caught Slovak B737-400 a few minutes before passenger disembarkation at Kos airport today morning. The local rescue services extinguished fire quickly, however all 169 passengers and 7 crew members of AirExplore flight from Verona has to disembarked via inflatable slides. No one was injured, all remaining flights (Kos - Milan - Kos - Verona) this OM-AEX registered aircraft are cancelled for today.

Czech Airlines will terminate ACMI lease of two Saab 340s from Central Connect Airlines (JOB Air) at the end of October. 33 seat aircraft operated by CSA some of Prague - Brno and Prague - Ostrava flights from October 2008, together with international service to Warsaw and Ljubljana later on.

Czech Airlines confirmed changes in winter operating network, abandoned London - Heathrow, Manchester, Cologne, Munich, Brno, Marseille, Thessaloniki and Venice. The airline hopes for return to last 3 mentioned in summer season 2011. A Filair 9Q-CCN registered Let 410 on route via Bandundu to Kinshasa crashed near Bandundu (western part of Democratic Republic of Congo) airport today. 20 bodies had been recovered from the crash site, one person is in critical situation in the hospital. Ryanair announced that it will open a new three-weekly (Mo, We, Sa) service from Bergamo to Brno, which will commence on 01.11.2010. The Brno traffic will raise with increase of current 4 weekly flights from London Stansted to daily at the same time.
